Help for Blackberries

If you are having trouble getting to the stage of entering your unlock code, try the following:

Step 1: reset your phone by taking out the SIM card and battery for at least 15 minutes.

Step 2: Power the phone back on and go to Options- Advanced options- SIM card- then no matter what screen you can see type mepd (or meppd if mepd doesn’t work), you will not be able to see the letters as you type. This will bring up a different screen.

Step 3: Type mep2, remember to press the alt key for the 2. If mep2 doesn’t work try mepp2. This should bring up a box which says ‘Enter Network MEP code’, type the unlock code into the box and the message ‘Code Accepted’ should appear. Once this happens the phone will be unlocked.

If they cannot bring up the box which asks for the code and they have tried all of the above they should try leaving the battery and sim out of the phone for at least 2 hours. If it still doesn’t work there is a problem with your handset and you will need to speak to your service provider.

Troubleshooting:

The code unlocked my phone, but I can't use BlackBerry Data/Web/Email services?

You will need to contact your carrier and ensure you have a working BlackBerry Internet Service / Bolt on attached to your tariff and that the BlackBerry has registered on their network. This usually is an extra cost and gives you access to the BlackBerry data services. If you already have this service, ask your network to ensure the handset is properly registered and ask them to send the 'Service Books' to the handset which will update any settings you have in the handset. Most carriers have a dedicated BlackBerry support team.

The following procedure can sometimes kicks the network into action - Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > BlackBerry Logo Button > Register Now
